We are deeply disappointed to announce that the Jacksonville Planning Commission unanimously approved CTW-24-02, the 160-foot monopine cell tower, on September 19th. This will be the second-tallest monopine tower in the city and the only one of this height located so close to homes (250 feet). Other comparable towers are situated farther away from residential areas.
Before the meeting, the commissioners received our 94-page document outlining various concerns and findings, including expert analyses and errors in the application and plans.
Despite substantial evidence demonstrating alternative sites that would offer similar or even better coverage, as well as evidence suggesting this tower could be shorter with minimal coverage loss, the commission voted in favor of the project without providing any explanation.
As the project progresses, we will add updates to this page (see below).
Local notice posted for new FCC registration. Anyone interested in commenting or with questions on the proposed facility should contact Terracon Consultants located at 8001 Baymeadows Way, Suite 1, Jacksonville, FL, or by phone 904-900-6494 or LPN.Comments@Terracon.com .
On 9/25/2024, the FCC determined that "with respect to ASR Application A1242992/ Registration 1325411, NexTower failed to satisy the NEPA and Section 106 local notice requirements". The FCC directed NexTower to "cancel Registration 1325411". The ASR process for the monopine will need to be redone.
